In the beginning The gods decide to send hermes down to Calypso and tell her that she must let him go.When she does so Odysseus makes himself a raft and sets out to sail to the country of Pheaecians.However, on the 18th day Poseidon finds him and creates a big storm that destroys his raft and then the goddess Ino helps him swim safely to shore and with Athene's help he is able to make it safely to this little stream wherehe finally rests.
